CE Mark

Each country has rules relating to products that can be distributed or traded in its territory. These rules must be obeyed by every manufacturer so that their products can be accepted and marketed. Likewise, several countries that are members of the European Economic Area (EEA) also require the same thing. That every product to be marketed in the EEA region must comply with European health, safety, and environmental protection standards.

CE Certification

How to get CE Mark?

As the product’s manufacturer, you bear sole responsibility for declaring conformity with all requirements. You don’t need a license to affix the CE marking to your product, however, before doing so, you must:

  • Ensure conformity with all relevant EU-wide requirements
  • Determine whether you can assess your product by yourself or if you have to involve a notified body
  • Build the technical documentation
  • Product testing
  • Draft and sign an EU declaration of conformity

The CE Mark

The CE mark indicates that the product may be traded freely in any part of the European Economic Area, regardless of its country of origin. It consists of the CE logo and, if applicable, the four-digit identification number of the notified body involved in the conformity assessment procedure. “CE” is the abbreviation of “conformité européenne” (French for “European conformity”)
